FAQ

  • Castile soap gently cleans with out toxic sulfates that virtually all other commercial soaps contain. Castile soap is made from safe, simple plant oils and is able to lather naturally with no need to add synthetic ingredients.

These plant oils, especially the olive oil that castile soap is based on, are rich in antioxidants and monounsaturated fatty acids as well as anti-inflammatory compounds such as oleocanthal.

Free from animal fats, castile soap is vegan friendly and environmentally ethical. A good quality castile is an all-around nontoxic soap cleaner that is safe for hands and oily skin, laundry, dishes, pets, floors, walls, windows and even killing garden eating insects.

Castile Soap is 3x more concentrated than most liquid soaps on the market. This means each bottle of our soap goes a lot further than regular soap and less waste in packaging materials.

Castile soap is more watery (non viscous) than regular liquid soaps, which is why our Castile Soap Club nozzle is perfect for using just the right amount of soap.

  • Castile soap is named after the Spanish territory of Castile, where it became famous for their large scale production of soap using olives.

Castile soap bars were exported to numerous countries in Europe for hundreds of years.

Although the Crown of Castile was not the only producer of this type of soap, it was its producer for excellence.

  • Why Castile Soap is Good for Skin:

    • Gentle and Non-Toxic: Castile soap is made from vegetable oils (our is made from olive oil, coconut oil and jojoba oil) and is free from synthetic detergents or harsh chemicals, making it a gentle choice for cleansing.
    • Moisturizing: The oils used in Castile soap can help retain moisture in the skin, which is especially helpful for dry or sensitive skin.
    • pH-Balanced: Castile soap has a natural pH that is relatively close to that of your skin, which helps to avoid disrupting the skin’s acid mantle (a protective barrier).
    • Natural and Hypoallergenic: Many people with sensitive or allergy-prone skin find Castile soap to be a good option since it typically contains fewer irritants than conventional soaps or body washes.

    Considerations Based on Skin Type:

    • Dry Skin: Castile soap can be moisturizing due to the oils in it, but if your skin is very dry, you may want to look for a Castile soap with a higher percentage of moisturizing oils, like olive oil. You can also follow up with a good moisturizer after use.
    • Oily or Acne-Prone Skin: Some people with oily or acne-prone skin find Castile soap effective because it’s natural and helps cleanse without stripping too much oil. However, Castile soap can sometimes leave a residue that might clog pores for some people, so it’s good to test it out first.
    • Sensitive Skin: Since Castile soap is free from many common allergens, it's often a good option for people with sensitive skin. However, if you're concerned, start by doing a patch test to see if it irritates your skin, especially if you're using a variety with added essential oils.
    • Normal Skin: For people with normal skin, Castile soap can offer a gentle cleanse without disrupting the skin’s natural moisture balance.

Overall, Castile soap is a versatile and mild option for a variety of skin types, but, like with any product, individual reactions can vary. If you're unsure, it’s always a good idea to do a patch test or consult with a dermatologist.

Remember to always dilute as instructed!

Once the soap has been created essential oild can be added to achievethe desired scent.
